Whiskey was first introduced to Ireland by the Irish Monks. They discovered the art of distilling from the Egyptians who used similar stills for perfume making. Initially, the monks started distilling for medicinal purposes. This is where the saying “water of life” first originated (in the Irish language “Uisce Beatha“). In Ireland whiskey is often used as part of the regular “first aid kit” to help cure tummy bugs, colds, flu, toothaches or even a broken heart, to name but a few ailments!

A delicious Salted caramel and whiskey cake combine Irish ingredients to create a deliciously decadent dessert. In particular, the Irish Whiskey gives them an extra flavour to test. Janet's Cakes and Bakes, she made the cake with very the Spade and Bushel 12 Year Old Double-Barrel from Connacht Whiskey Distillery.
